Munch ‘n’ Go is our compact, biodegradable, and sustainable way to carry food for third-party delivery services of many consumable products of 7-Eleven. This design allows for easy transport of a combo ordered by many consumers that enjoy the convenience of ordering their items through apps or online. This design supports a drink up to 32 oz as well as a main food item and a side item. Munch ‘n’ Go allows for easy packing of each food item to be mixed and matched when packaging a consumer’s order.
Munch ‘n’ Go is made from paperboard and plant based polymers. According to the research and production of biodegradable and sustainable packaging at Terapak, the use of paperboards and plant-based polymers sourced from sustainably managed forests and growers, and recycling the materials, even after consumer use, can help have a positive impact on the environment. These materials are durable and help protect the food items from outside influences like moisture. The inside of the main food item boxes are coated with Carnauba wax, also known as palm wax, to allow for hot items to stay at the appropriate temperature for the duration of the delivery. The wax is naturally harvested from the carnauba palm tree and has a high melting point to help insulate the hot food items.
Our design was created with the mindset of keeping a compact but sturdy design for transport from a 7-eleven to the consumer. The prototype was designed around a holder for a Big Gulp drink, a 5pc wings, and 2pc cookies. Our design allows for easy accessibility of each food item while simultaneously providing support to keep the items from moving around during transit. The handles split apart to allow access to all items within the sturdy base. The sides stay open to allow the drink to stay cool and free of heat from hot items. A pullable pouch opens up to access the cookies or other small snack items. A sticker identifying which third-party delivery service is used for the order will be placed at the top to (a) bring the handles together, and (b) provide an easy identifier to the consumer if their meal has been opened or tampered with before delivery.
Munch ‘n’ Go’s design fits most mix and match items available at 7-Eleven locations. It is easy to work with for both consumers and delivery services.
