Our dog food package design is meant to be both practical and aesthetically pleasing for consumers. There is a cap made of PVC on the top to help make pouring more precise. If the cap is made longer in production, it could double as a measuring cup for the kibble. There is a cardboard handle on the top to make carrying it easier. A polyethylene film lines the inside of the package to help keep the food fresh. The exterior was constructed using white cardboard and white paper tape for increased durability and weight capacity. The triangular shape of the package makes it easier to hold, which aids stability while pouring.
This package has the design built in both physically and visually. The peekaboo holes placed throughout represent the dog’s spots while conveniently giving a glimpse of how much food is left. We used yellow and blue for our logo design since these are the colors dogs can best see with their limited color vision. The name pooch munch is a spin on the term moose munch. We chose a Dalmatian named Dalma to represent the brand because the breed is seen as trustworthy and playful, which perfectly encapsulates the intentions behind our quirky yet functional design.
